Cheoy Lee’s main production facility is strategically located on the Pearl River at Doumen, Zhuhai, in southern China. It can be reached in under 2-hours by road or high speed ferry from the Cheoy Lee head office in Hong Kong. The 12 hectare (28-acre) Hin Lee (Zhuhai) Shipyard facility includes a 1,000 ton railway lift, 150 ton TraveLift, dedicated fabrication halls for steel, aluminium and fibreglass moulding, dust free painting halls, trade specific workshops and onsite dormitories to house up to 1,000 employees . The dormatories resemble a small community, with recreation facilities ranging from basket ball to table tennis, and even tug of war being a popular after hours activity for the Hin Lee workforce. The facility itself is bristling with advanced production machinery, from Prop Scan equipment, 5-axis CNC cutters, milling, rolling and bending machines, lathes up to 8 metres (26 feet) in length, NC water bath plasma cutters, and much more, capable of producing vessels up to 70 metres (230 feet) in length.

One of the only yards in the world to routinely build in steel, fiberglass, aluminium and various combinations of these materials, Cheoy Lee builds to globally recognized standards and regulations. Our client base is as varied as our production, and includes keen sailors, entrepreneurs, multinational organizations and governments.

With deep resources of talent and a state of the art facility, Cheoy Lee also recognizes the importance of partnering specialist design firms to fully harness our own capabilities. Of particular note, Cheoy Lee’s collaboration with Robert Allan Limited has propelled our tug building programme to become one of the recognized global leaders in ASD harbour tug production. On the yachts side, structural engineering firm Guirt has been a close partner in the continual advancements of Cheoy Lee composite yachts.

As well as the China and Hong Kong operations, Cheoy Lee has a purchasing, sales and marketing centre located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Regular container shipments supply the shipyard’s yacht and commercial divisions with leading international component brands, as Cheoy Lee uses no significant China sourced componentry in vessel construction, to ensure international availability and serviceability. With ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001 certification, and classification society approved facilities and personnel, Cheoy Lee routinely builds yachts and commercial vessels under survey to major classification societies including Lloyds Register, ABS, Bureau Veritas, RINA and CCS.
